Sipping on Synergy - Review of Kombucha!

One of the best things about living in California for twenty years was being the first to know about emerging health trends. Sure, Californians are often characterized as kooky health nuts, but just about every health trend starts in the Golden State, setting the standards for the food and supplement industries across the nation. As goes California, so goes the nation, for better or for worse.

One of the finer things to emerge from Cali is GT’s Synergy brand kombucha. The OG of all kombuchas, Synergy pioneered the fermented beverage and put it on the map. Its ginger flavor has been a longtime staple in my fridge for many years, and I was thrilled to see it in Azure’s lineup, considering I now live in a rural town in VA and don’t have access to many of the health food staples I enjoyed while living in bigger cities.

This refreshing beverage provides healthy probiotics. I can actually feel them entering my tummy and doing good things for it, unlike other kombucha brands that feel like nothing more than fizzy water with sugar in it, frankly.

While I did experiment with making my own kombucha for a while to ensure quality and health benefits, like many, I found the vat of a live-growing mushroom on my counter a little unsightly. The juice was not worth the squeeze, so to speak. I would rather buy the brand I trust, and save my kitchen from the eyesore.

If I want to reduce the sugar in a single serving, I’ll often cut the sweetness by adding some sparkling water with lemon or lime. It’s a great alternative to soda and a must-have during the warmer summer months. Of course, I like to serve mine in an Azure Canning Company glass for a little homemade feel. So sit back, sip, and enjoy!
